More specific suborder terms are now being used more often to categorize certain species of bat. These terms are Yinpterochiroptera and Yangochiroptera. This suborder includes the majority of microbat species, with the exception of the Hipposideridae, Rhinopomatidae, Rhinolophidae, and Megadermatidae species. Instead, these exceptions are categorized as part of the Yinpterochiroptera suborder.<\/p>\n<h2><font color=\"#cc7a00\">Examples of Suggested Yangochiroptera Species:<\/font><\/h2>\n<p><font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> Bulldog Bats<br \/>\n<font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> Disk-Winged Bats<br \/>\n<font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> Free-Tailed Bats<br \/>\n<font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> Funnel-Eared Bats<br \/>\n<font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> Ghost-Faced Bats<br \/>\n<font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> Hollow-Faced Bats<br \/>\n<font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> Leaf-Nosed Bats<br \/>\n<font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> New Zealand Short-Tailed Bats<br \/>\n<font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> Sac-winged Bats<br \/>\n<font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> Smoky Bats<br \/>\n<font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> Vesper Bats<\/p>\n<h1>Yinpterochiroptera Suborder<\/h1>\n<p>Also referred to as <em>Pteropodiformes<\/em>, most Megachiroptera are classified as part of the Yinpterochiroptera suborder. This includes virtually all fruit bats, as well as, a few bat species that were once considered Microchiroptera, such as the Horseshoe bat.<\/p>\n<h2><font color=\"#cc7a00\">Examples of Suggested Yinpterochiroptera Species:<\/font><\/h2>\n<p><font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> False Vampire Bats<br \/>\n<font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> Horseshoe Bats<br \/>\n<font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> Kitti\u2019s Hog-Nosed Bats<br \/>\n<font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> Mouse-Tailed Bats<br \/>\n<font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> Old World leaf-nosed bats<br \/>\n<font color=\"#cc7a00\">&#10022;<\/font> Megabats<\/p>\n<h1>Evaluating Merit<\/h1>\n<p>Currently, more and more studies are being conducted, using both molecular and morphological cladistics methodology, to assess the merit and validity of these newly adopted terms.
